Nagoya Castle is one of Japan’s three most famous castles, located in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, and is selected as one of the Best 100 Castles of Japan.

It was built in 1610 by Ieyasu Tokugawa as part of a large-scale construction project, and later served as the residence of the Owari Tokugawa family. The castle was also intended to counter Hideyori Toyotomi at Osaka Castle.

Although many of its main structures were destroyed during World War II, the current five-story castle keep has been reconstructed. Highlights include the golden shachihoko ornaments on the castle keep, the restored Honmaru Palace, and original corner turrets.

Visitors can also enjoy beautiful seasonal scenery throughout the year.
